Eco Insight: Report user guide
Cover Page
The cover page has a simple and intuitive design, with clearly visible site details. It includes a simple site location plan to enable easy checking of boundaries and illustrates the site and surrounding area.
The cover page also includes an Overview summary which highlights whether something has been identified within each section of the report and a direct link to that section
Report Navigation
The top right of each page includes icons for each of the chapters within the report to use as a navigation bar. Each icon is a link to the relevant chapter in the report so its easy to jump section by section in the report
Links to Explorer
The Groundsure Insight Ecology product includes a site specific PDF and an online workspace called Groundsure Explorer for analysing, interpreting and delivering key findings. The cover page includes a banner at the bottom of the page with a direct link to the associated Explorer workspace.
More information on Groundsure Explorer can be found by clicking here.
Site specific information
The PDF report provides a fixed, structured summary within a defined search area. The report has a max search distance of 2km. Some datasets, such as the Statutory designated site information and National Trees Outside of Woodland, that require much larger spatial extents for assessment or return high volumes of data records have been reduced in the reports to show site specific information within a maximum of 2km radius of site. Full extents of the data can be viewed in the associated Explorer workspace, with links directly from the relevant PDF section to the Explorer data layer.
Clear mapping of data
The reports include sophisticated data styling, modern background mapping and enhanced feature labelling. This includes the dynamic legend feature which only displays features which are shown on the map. This clear visual display of identified data allows for faster interpretation.
Static legends do occur within this report where a dynamic legend is impractical.
Full page MasterMap site plan and aerial imagery
For smaller sites (under 10 hectares) a full MasterMap site plan will be included as standard. This is the definitive high-detailed digital mapping for Great Britain. Due to limitations in usability this is not included for sites over 10 hectares
Up to 5 aerial photos from the most recent and 4 historic images are also included within the report
ID format
The mapping within the Eco Insight report includes intelligent labelling. Where a single feature appears it will be identified using a number, which will then correspond with the data table. Where multiple features are located in close proximity to one another, a letter will be used to indicate the position of those features. Hyphens indicate features identified further than mapped distance.
Sequential numbering / lettering is based on distance from the site, rather than in section order.
For example, the numbering in Section 1.1 could start at 5 if there are features in other sub-sections which are closer to the site.
