Insight User Guide: Report features

The Groundsure Insight reports are full of features to enable you to navigate more efficiently, allowing you to quickly identify and assess those issues of significance in the assessment of your site.

Cover Page

The cover page has a simple and intuitive design, with clearly visible site details. It includes a simple site location plan to enable easy checking of boundaries and illustrates the site and surrounding area. It has embedded links within the text which will take you directly to the relevant sections and page number.

Clear mapping of data

The reports include sophisticated data styling, modern background mapping and enhanced feature labelling. This includes the dynamic legend feature which only displays features which are shown on the map. This clear visual display of identified data allows for faster interpretation.

Static legends do occur within this report where a dynamic legend is impractical.

Full page MasterMap site plan

For smaller sites (under 10 hectares) a full MasterMap site plan will be included as standard. This is the definitive high-detailed digital mapping for Great Britain. Due to limitations in usability this is not included for sites over 10 hectares.

Historical aerial imagery

The Groundsure Insight reports include historical aerial imagery. This section enables a visual assessment of recent site developments from multiple aerial images from 1999 to the most recent images. Exact dates vary, but are every few years dependent on coverage. They are provided by GetMapping.

Easy to understand data sections

The section design includes a clear summary of the identified features displayed above an informative description of the dataset. For easy identification, on site features are highlighted bold in data tables and offsite features are reported in standard weight text. Each identified feature within the table has an embedded link which will take you directly to the relevant map displaying the identified feature or features. The data source information is also on hand for ease of reference.

Home button

Every page has a ‘home’ button to return the user to the summary section from wherever they are in the report allowing you to move efficiently around the report.

All in one place

Groundsure provides data tables and maps side by side in the same document, preventing the need for repeated toggling and enabling seamless visual comparison between the mapped features and the tabular details available.

ID format

The mapping within the Enviro and Geo reports includes intelligent labelling. Where a single feature appears it will be identified using a number, which will then correspond with the data table. Where multiple features are located in close proximity to one another, a letter will be used to indicate the position of those features. Hyphens indicate features identified further than mapped distance.

Sequential numbering / lettering is based on distance from the site, rather than in section order.

For example, the numbering in Section 1.1 could start at 5 if there are features in other sub-sections which are closer to the site.
