Insight User Guide: GIS product features
This guide is designed to provide answers to the most frequently asked questions about our Groundsure Insight in GIS format.
The Groundsure Insight, GIS format, comprises of historical maps (all scales) as GeoTIFFs, and a GeoPackage containing data layers for the Enviro and Geo portions. For guidance on how to load a GeoPackage in various see our Knowledge article: How to load a GeoPackage
Benefits of GIS over PDF formats
- Viewing ability - we recommend purchasing GIS products for large or unusually shaped sites as they offer an unrivaled perspective and can be overlain with existing data (see third party T&C’s for information on best practice https://www.groundsure.com/third-party-provider-conditions/).
- Additional buffer options - unlike our PDF offering, the GIS product is cookie cut to your bespoke site specifications. An additional buffer can be applied at the point of order by clicking Define map export on the map and using either the slide or typing in the required buffer distance.
- We understand that GIS is becoming a more popular format for both our clients and end users. Providing our product as GeoPackage means your output can be more easily transferred to client’s systems and introduced into collaborative data environments.
Ordering GIS data
- The Insight GIS data is available to order from Groundsure.io
- Groundsure assumes the GIS product licence required is for a single user and for use up to 12 months (continued usage past this point will require a renewal and additional users may be subject to a change in fee).
- The data is ordered as a GeoPackage
- In PDF form you are entitled to use the Product in respect of the Site only and the Product may not be used or relied on in respect to adjacent or nearby sites. In GIS format you can use the data for your internal business use within the specified annual period(s) of the licence.
