WFD Surface water body catchments

Layer name: Hydrology-WFD_Surface_Water_Catchments_EA

This is a polygon based dataset of river waterbody catchments within England, provided by the Environment Agency, as defined for the implementation of the Water Framework Directive (WFD). These catchments delineate areas of land from which all surface run-off flows through a series of streams, rivers and, possibly, lakes to a particular point in the water course such as a river confluence. Rivers can be linked with these catchments via the 'WB_ID' attribute. Land which drains into coastal or estuarine waters rather than a river are also included but are named 'Not part of a river WB catchment'.
