Environment Agency

The Environment Agency is the government body responsible for the protection of the environment including rivers, flooding, and pollution in England and Wales.

Environmentally Sensitive Areas (ESA)

An area of particularly high landscape, wildlife or historic value. The Environmentally Sensitive Area Scheme was introduced in 1987 and offered incentives to farmers to adopt agricultural practices which would maintain or enhance environmental features and improve public access.
